I have had my heart set on a white crib for as long as I can remember. It's a silly little thing but that's what I always saw when I thought of my baby's room. Pottery Barn has one that I love but it was $500, twice as much as any other crib out there, so I held off. My friend Laura gave me her crib she no longer needs and I really appreciated it but it wasn't white but it was free so I took it. Ro and Patty helped me set it up but something was missing. I felt that since I was spending so much money on other things I should be happy with the crib. I wasn't. Oh well. I started looking on ebay for a Pottery Barn bedding set and I found a couple that I liked over about 2 weeks but did not bid on any. One day came across the Pottery Barn crib I wanted, which happens to be called the "Dana crib" and it was listed as $225 and it was close enough to me that I could pick it up! What are the chances of that?? I bid, I won, yeaaahh! I was so happy when I picked it up. Patty and Ro came over again, good friends that they are, and helped me put it together and we took down the other one. I look at it everyday not believing that there is actually a baby crib in my house. I have waited for this for soooo long. Thought about this too many times to even imagine. I feel like it's the first big step outside of the paperwork. Paperwork is not what you imagine when you think of having a baby but that is the way things have gone for me. I can adjust to that because............I have a crib in my house!!

I was very bad and did not set up my end of the blog until you already left for Kaz. So, I started looking back at some of the old entries and came across this one, "The Crib" entry. As you know, I thought you were completely nuts for wanting that (other-first) crib put together so many months before you were even going to be leaving for Kaz. There were so many other things to be done around your house - Christmas decorations. Need I say more. But once you get your mind set on something, it's full steam ahead. (You will learn this very quickly about Mommy, Serena.) That crib, that took the three of us (me, you and Aunt Ro-ro) three hours to put together, take apart (because we put it together WRONG) and put back together again, somehow, I knew it wasn't going to last. Despite all my whining, I just knew. You see this crib was a natural wood crib. (Mommy always envisioned a white crib in your nursery, Serena.) And sure enough a short time later, I get a call from Dana, "I found the white crib I wanted."
Ro and I come over again for another fun-filled evening of putting "the white crib" together. Thankfully, this one went together with ease. We removed the other one. It came apart easier than it went together. I believe it was all worth it in the end for the look of sheer joy on your face, Dana, when we were done and the white crib was put in it's place in the nursery.
I can't wait to see Serena enjoying her new room and resting all cozy in her new "white crib". The nursery really looks lovely and the white crib completes the room. Serena, I want you to know, that a lot of love went into putting that room together for you and I was happy (despite my whining) to be a small part of it, along with Aunt Ro-ro, Ed and Uncle Jamie. But most of the credit goes to you Dana. Mommy did a fantastic job, Serena. You will love it.
Love, Patty
P.S. Never saw the photos from "the crib nights".
