I have a feeling there will be alot of naked baby days coming. It's hot outside, inside, everywhere. The babyhouse does not have AC or fans. It was 95 degrees today, I would gladly buy them a fan. I'm sure all the adoptive parents would be happy to buy a fan each. I am spoiled when it comes to having AC in the summer. The caregivers said they wanted Serena outside today for fresh air so out we went. She tried to climb out of the stroller again because she wanted to be held. She is going to be such fun in the airport!! Wish me luck on that part of the trip. We did half of the visit outside and it was just too much heat so we went in.
See my sweaty face? It's pointless to put make up on in the morning, it slides off as soon as I get to the babyhouse. Is the heat the first thing I have to complain about since I got here? You know I don't like to be hot. We did our usual things, Serena is putting her mouth on my cheek, kisses I think, peek a boo, she sways to the music Ainura had on her phone, she is just so amazing to watch. I love to see the new things I learn about her.
One of her caregivers, Sultanat, said they have a custom when a baby is getting ready to walk, you tie a string between both ankles and then I choose someone to cut the string. I should choose someone who's qualities I admire because after the string is cut she will start walking sooner and she will have those qualities of the person chosen to cut the string. I don't know if I should do it here or home. I'll have to think about it.
Her hair was all wet from the heat so I took out her comb to fix her hair and she loved it. (she reminded me of you Ro, she loves her hair brushed too) She sat there so quiet and let me comb it. Then she took the comb and started to comb it herself. That's what she is trying to do in this picture. She did a great job for a 1 year old! The back was a little messed up but we weren't in front of the mirror. I'm sure that's what the problem was. LOL. Have I told you that I LOVE this baby?! Tomarrow is court to see the judge to ask if I can adopt her. It's scary but exciting!
This is the back of my apartment building and it faces the highway. I am on the second floor. The white part is a small room that I hang my laundry in.
This is the view when I leave the building from the front door. There are always children and parents outside playing on the swings. I am in an old building but the inside has been updated. I'm happy here.
Today I went to get my hair colored. We went to the mall to buy the color because it's cheaper that way and we went to a "good place". I was surprised to see it was in an apartment building, 5 old babushka ladies with kerchiefs on their heads sat outside. The hallways were a wreck, tile missing in large areas on the floor, the building was really old and pretty much falling apart. I was a little leary but Ainura said it's where she goes. We went into a little room that had all the things our salons have and it looked pretty new. Women in their 20's all dressed up doing hair and nails. The girl that did my hair did a really good job, I could tell she really cared about what she did. It was a little cooler in there than outside until I went under the heat lamp. Ten minutes of that and I was done. The whole thing took 2 hours and I was ready to leave but it came out nice, it's a little more auburn but I like it.
I came home and kind of took a nap but I could have fallen asleep at 5pm but I didn't want to do that and be up all night. Over the weekend it's supposed to be 80 degrees, I'm really looking forward to that! Can you tell I'm having a hard time with the weather? Better warm than cold I think.
Serena tomarrow is a special day for us! I'm going to see the judge to ask him if I can be your mommy forever. I want that most in my life. Hugs and Kisses!

95 degrees and no AC, I know I'd be pretty cranky and probably complaining a heckuva alot more than you are. I'm sure you are looking forward to that 80 degree cool spell over the weekend. Well, Serena doesn't looked to bothered by the heat. She looks cool as cucumber in the photos. It is so cute that she is starting to mimic you and understand the little games you taught her.
Good luck with your very important day tomorrow. I am praying for you and Serena that everything goes well at court and that you come across that hurdle with flying colors. Hopefully, the courthouse is air conditioned.
Lotsa luck,
Patty
P.S. I'm sure Anlynn will love to hear about the "Kaz" beauty salon.
what guts you have...I would be really scared to get my hair done in a foreign place. I give you a lot of credit. You are my hero....If I were a baby - I'd want you to cut my string.
I wish you all the positive thoughts and energy for your court day tommorow- one step closer to Serena New Jersey bound...Yeah!
I would not want to be you with that heat wave and no a/c. I am a big baby and need my air.
I am soooo excited that Serena likes to have her hair brushed. Maybe if I train her, I can bribe her w/toys to brush my hair when I see her. I try that w/Sam, but it doesnt' always work.
I will keep all my fingers and toes crossed tomorrow and say an extra special prayer for the two of you tonight to make sure tomorrow goes the best way possible. Once the judge hears and sees your passion and love for this child, there is no doubt that he/she will give you what you've been waiting for all your adult life- Little Miss Sunshine Serena.
Love and kisses to you both,
Aunt Ro-Ro
Andrew says "Hi"! He's not good at writing stuff, says he's not girly!
But he does think Serena is cute.
Wow! That's rough with no AC! Serena's going to be cold when she gets here!
I like the shoelace tradition. It's part of Serena's heritage.
Well, good luck to you and Serena in court tomorrow. You are both in my prayers.
Love you both
Lisa (and Andrew)
Hi Dana - What a talented little girl Serena is. She is a dancer and a beautician and is very photogenic. I've printed a few pictures and take them with me everywhere. I might meet somone I haven't showed them to. They cheer me up, too.
I'm glad the heat is lightening up. Hang in there. Do the wet handkerchief aroung your neck. It works.
I will be thinking about you all day tomorrow. I pray all will be well for you and Serena.
Serena, I feel that we are family already. I love you.
Uncle Tony sends his love to both of you, too.
Love and hugs - Aunt Maria
You are getting very brave getting your hair done in Kaz. Why not though the more you describe it the more it sounds like being home without all the glitz. Post some photos of the new hair so we can see how they did.
Serena is so smart and picks up things quickly. She is gonna keep you on your toes.
Our love to you both
Lori and Chris
