Baby Shower

On April 22 my family and friends had a baby shower for me at La Pastaria. Everyone had a really great time and the food was excellent! It was a very special day for me and the emotions I had took me by surprise.

I walked in the restaurant knowing there was a party but when I saw all my family and friends there to celebrate this wonderful experience with me it made me feel so loved and special. It was one of the best days my heart has ever had. Everyone was so happy for me. I can't even express how I felt that day. It was very special and I will always remember it. After I said hello to everyone I noticed the corner with all the gifts and I felt even more overwhelmed, I forgot there would be gifts! Really! I was just speechless.

The gift that I saw first was a 1950's baby carriage filled with blankets and gift bags. It was so beautiful, everyone was talking about it. I also got a laundry basket with a clothes line that had lots of baby clothes attached with clothes pins and when I opened the gift certificate to have my house cleaned everyone ooohed and aaahed. I was given just about everything I would need for the baby, lots of clothes, blankets, toys, carseat, gate, strollers, activity center, pac n play, and a wishing well for books. Everyone was so generous and I am so grateful to all of you. Thanks for being a part of such a special day.

There was one gift that really touched my heart. After I was done opening the gifts my cousin Lisas daughter Jess gave me a box. I opened it and said "This was your dress when you were a baby right?" She said "Yes, your Mom made it for me. Mom saved it, it's for you." I started to just cry and I gave her the biggest hug and then she was crying and so were people that never even met my Mom. It just meant so much to me. Mom has been gone for 10 years now and I just miss her so much. I wish she could be here to share all this with me. Thank you so much Lisa and Jess for this very special gift. I can't even express to you how much this means to me.

I also want to thank my Dad, my sister Maria, and Rose Ann, Laura and Patty for everything you all did to make this shower the best it could be. I had a great time and means more to me than I could have imagined.

Dad, I wish you could have been there. Thanks for always being supportive even though you didn't always understand my thinking and for always telling me how proud you are of me. It means alot.

My sister Maria, for being the best big sister and always being there for me. Know I will always be there for you.

Laura, thanks for taking such great photos to help me remember as much as possible. You're a great friend, photographer, and vacation buddy.

Rose Ann, thank you for all the running around, thought and effort you put into everything you do. You made this a very special day for me.

Patty, thanks so much for all the planning you did to make this a great day for me. You should be an event planner one day! You do know what I like.

I am so grateful to have each and every one of you in my life. Seeing you all there and feeling how happy you all are for me makes me realize how much love there is in my life. I feel very blessed to have been able to realize this and it is the best part of the whole day.

I am so happy that you really enjoyed your shower. After all this time, it was you turn for your family and friends to spoil you. Of course, it was touch and go there for a while. We weren't sure if you were going to be here or in Kazakhstan for the shower. We had Ro ready to fill in to open presents for you if you were going to be already gone. But alas, the traveling was to wait and a great weight was lifted; You would be attending your own shower.

I was honored to be a part of your shower. Your father and sister threw a wonderful party. And I know everyone was disappointed that your father was unable to put in appearance at the shower. But it is very imoprtant for him to get his rest and get better because he will be on "Grandpa duty" soon.

You have very loving and generous friends and family. And I don't even mean the substantial amount of gifts (although everyone was quite generous) but for the affection people feel for you and the support everyone has thrown behind you in this wonderful quest to become a Mom. You and your baby (who doesn't even know it yet but will soon) are truly blessed.

I want to wish you good luck and I pray that your baby will be happy and healthy. I hope that becoming a Mommy is all or more than what you dreamed it to be.

All my love, Patty
