She woke up while I was there and they let me pick her up from her crib. She looked so happy when she woke up, no sleepy eyes this morning.(could have had a picture of that) They also asked me if I wanted to feed her and of course I said yes! I fed her soup, mashed potatoes with minced meat and carrots. (could have had a picture of that too) This is when Ainura told me I left the disc for the video camera home. Next was potty time, lucky for me I got that picture the other day. She was not happy sitting on the potty so I got down on the floor with her and we clapped our hands to a song I made up about playing on the potty and I turned it into patty cake. She loved it. She doesn't completely get it yet but she will.
Then we went to the playroom. One of her playmates times was changed for visits with his mom, who is one of the mothers I meet with so we had our visit together, all 4 of us. There were alot more toys to play with and distractions from our time together so the visit was a little different for me but it's nice to see her play with her friend and he is just too cute for words and I get some grownup time too. Two more weeks and we will have plenty of alone time together.
Needless to say, the time flew by and I was very unhappy to have to bring Serena back so soon. I put her in her crib and she is so calm when she is in there. I'm glad she feels that way. I want her to know that going to sleep is a peaceful time and I think she already knows that. There is something that happens between us when I lay her down for her nap and she just looks up at me so quiet with that little binky in her mouth. I could stand there for hours with her. She did not cry today and I am hoping it's because she knows I will come back again.
This is a picture I took on Serenas birthday with two little boys she shares her playroom with. I love these two little boys, they have so much personality and they are always happy and smiling and they just LOVE attention.
This is Jila, Angie, and David in front of my apartment building.
This is my front door to my apartment on the second floor.
This is my couch that I sit on, I read email here, watch BBC News here, write my blog here and eat here. It's the only place in the apartment to sit except for the stool you see next to it. It's not too comfy but it will do for now.
That picture of Jila, Angie, and David was not really in front of my apartment. I took it in front of some construction that is going on where we ate dinner one night last week. Just joking!
Little Miss, I feel so bad about not having any camera for the day with you. I am so sorry! I loved taking you from your crib and feeding you lunch today, playing patty cake and bouncing you up and down. Putting you down for your nap is always special too. Tomarrow I will take lots of pictures and maybe I can feed you again. Lots and Lots of Love to you Sweets!

Hi Dana - You must have been posting today's entry as I wrote my comments for yesterday. Before I could shut down, there was today!
You can see the difference in Serena since you came into her life. She is such a lucky little girl to have you for her mommy! I know you have brought much joy to her. You can see the difference in her face.
She certainly is well socialized! It seems she gets along fine with others. Like mother, like daughter, eh?
Don't feel too bad about having no camera. Like father, like daughter.....
Today is like the day you had just gotten the hang of walking. You were about Serena's age. Dad was taking video (8mm) of you. It was a Sunday. Mom dressed you up and you walked around the living room as we coaxed you on. You smiled and laughed and were so adorable. So proud of yourself! We all had such a good time.
Then, Dad realized, much to his dismay and ours, that there was NO FILM in the camera!!
Sometimes, I think that is why we all remembered that event so vividly.
We talked about it more often than we probably would have watched it on film!
I love you, little sister. I am so proud of you and so happy you have found the joy you have been looking for.
Much love - Maria
Awwwww, I love Maria's story about your first steps...and I'll bet Dad said more than "fiddlesticks" when he realized there was no film in the camera.
I too, try to capture everything on film, but it's just too hard sometimes. Don't beat yourself up over it. Just enjoy the moment. Besides, you've got to pace yourself or Ms. Serena will have 500 photo albums before her fifth birthday...ha ha.
Glad you got in some adult time today. 'Tis fun to share the mothering thing with another like-minded adult.
Can't wait til you two get back!
Love,
Laura xoxox
It won't be the last time you are a bad mommy, we all have our moments-trust me!!
I loved seeing all the new pictures and the old ones as well. It is great to see the beautiful culture that Serena is from. I just can't wait to meet her in person. She is absolutely beautiful. We are going to have so much fun together. Yeah!
Welcome to my world. I always forget my camera for family events and holidays. Everyone always has to make doubles of their photos for me. Even though you had no camera to catch these momentous "firsts", I'm sure they will be ingrained in you memory for a lifetime (just like your parents and Maria remembered your first steps).
Serena definitely senses that her little life has changed. She sees this beautiful loving and caring woman everyday. Who plays with her, changes her, feeds her and puts her down for naps. Though she doesn't know what it is like to have a mother, I don't think it will be long before she has that familial bond with you. I can only imagine the way you feel seeing that beautiful little girl grow to love you and just as importantly trust you more each day. Savor every moment of it Dana.
Love,
Patty
P.S. I thought a bomb went off in front of your apartment building. Last week, we see photos of the apartment, looks like a nice enough building, then today -ruins. But no, you just tricked us. You think your funny, don't you?
I see you are watching the BBC news. You should be up on all the current world affairs now.
Hi Dana. I finally got to read your blog. It was teriffic. I can see by the pictures of Serena how much she is growing and how she is coming to know that you are someone she can trust and know will always be there to share her laughter, dry her tears and give her the love she needs. She is beautiful. You are both blessed to have found eachother. Even though you aren't my little sister, I am also so proud of you for having the courage and the heart to share your love with this special little girl. You will be a wonderful Mommy!!!
I can't wait to meet the newest member of our family!!!
Love you.
Donna
