Love My Girl!

Today was a little of everything. It was hot, quiet, happy, exciting, and for the first time fussy, once. Miss Serena loves when I lightly bite her feet and she giggles and giggles. I have been advised by some not to do this but I just can't help myself, it's in my blood to kiss babies feet and she likes it so much I have to! It's fun for both of us. I love this picture!

This picture was taken just as Serena let go of the slide to walk to me. She let go of the slide and just stood there for a couple seconds and she took 7 steps! The smile on her little was was priceless!

Here she is when I gave her big kisses for walking as far as she did! Very exciting to see! I need video of this.

The same day as her first big steps, she has never taken so many at once, she also had her first fussy moment. She had a bottle of water and Ainura was trying to get her to look up at the camera so I took it away from her for a minute and kept showing her so she would look up. She reached for it and started fussing, laid down on her side and gave me a little cry to let me know she was not happy. Needless to say I gave it back to her and felt terrible that she was upset. Then I gave her a bottle of cool water and she felt better. I'd say 4 weeks and this is the first time fussing is pretty good although I do only see her for 2 hours a day.

We play a "game" where I pat her belly fast then slow, fast then slow and then she pats her belly. Today I was laying on my belly and she started patting my back. To feel her little hand intentionally patting me feels sooooo good!

She is really such a good girl! I can't wait to get her home now and see what the routine will be. I know her eating and napping routine I will try to keep the same as long as possible but I want to see her in her room, in the kitchen, in her bouncy seat, in the tub (I hear she loves a bath), outside in the grass and walking down at the marina. I can't wait to see her with my Dad and Pat and the rest of our family and friends. I can't wait!!

Today was Jilas birthday so tonight we went to Angies house for dinner and Sarah met us for dinner too. It is really great hanging out with these women every week and I alway look forward to their company. We see each other at the babyhouse and a couple times a week at night. Our babies are between 7 and 12 months and we always have something to talk about.

Tonight we had our first real conversation about what every woman talks about when you become a mom.................poop! Someone mentioned they have not had to change a poopy diaper, someone else mentioned diareah and giarda. I mentioned that I changed one poopy diaper and someone asked how was it and I began to describe it like it was a recipe or something before I realized what I was doing and then I just stopped and put my head down and said "I can't believe I'm actually doing this.......this is what everyone says moms do but I can't believe it's happening". I looked up and they all said "well don't stop now, what was it? We want to know." It was so funny! The funniest part was that they all really wanted to know! I am laughing out loud as I type this. It was a very interesting and memorable experience. It was a good night as usual.

Serena my sweetheart, I just love to see you everyday and I can't wait to spend all day with you! I know you will tire me out but the good things I know will out weigh the not so good by far. You are such a playful, sweet, and fun girl and I truly am blessed to be your mommy! Love and Kisses

Yes your discussion of poop has officially made you a member of the Mommy club....wishing you many more wonderful poopy days and nights!

I love the picture of Serena posted today....SHe looks scrumptous. And I agree, there is nothing sweeter then gnawing on the baby feet....

I can't say it enough...I am sooo very happy for the both of you! I love love love how excited you are for each one of those exciting baby moments that we sometimes take for granted. As soon as I get home tonight, I'm gonna nibble those Seby feet....

That last photo looks like she's saying, "Thank you, good night!" What showmanship!

I know the Kazaks have feet issues, but I say, you go girl! Nibble away. The more interaction and love, the better.

And ahhhh yes, the poopy diaper. What will it be...rabbit pellets? liquid surprise? So many choices....can't wait to hear all about them!

Love,

Poopy diaper talk I do believe you are officially a mommy. Yes you really are talking about these things. It was just a matter of time. How great to have this talk with women over there going through the same experience as you. Who are also talking about poopy diapers for the first time.

Today was a momentus occasion with Serena walking 7 steps. A proud moment for you mommy!!

Serena you bring so much joy to mommy's heart no matter what you do, even giving mommy poopy diapers to change. Keep it up!

Hugs and kisses to you both
Aunt Lori xoxo

Get ready for the crazy conversations you will have w/moms. It's wild. Things you never thought you'd do or say, you do them. It's wierd. I guess it's just part of being a parent.

She is soooooooooo cute!!

I really do think Serena is sensing that something is different in her life. She sees you everyday. Plays with you, laughs with you, performs for you (seven steps today, way to go little Miss Serena) and now fusses for you. Miss Serena seems like a bright young lady and I can't help but think she just figured something out today. She was giving you a little test, Dana, by rolling over and sobbing when you took her bottle away. Naturally, you react by feeling terrible for upsetting her and give her the bottle back. All of us would have felt that way and done the same thing. She seems like such a happy baby and she's got one of the best mommies, I can't see her being too fussy for you.

I know your aversion to bathroom humor and discussion about bodily functions but once you are elbow deep in dirty diapers, it doesn't seem to be such a taboo topic anymore, does it? Well, just like your friends at dinner, I am waiting for the descriptive details of the first poopy diaper. Only kidding! I'm sure we will all be hearing about it when you get back, which by the way won't be soon enough.

Miss you lots,
Patty

Dana, Dana, Dana

That is too funny! Bathroom conversation is still a topic had at our dinner table! Not that I appreciate it although sometimes someone says something funny. Can't wait for you to share in our conversation!

On a cleaner note; Congratulations Serena! Seven steps - excellent! You will be running circles around mommy in no time!

Looking forward to seeing it for myself.

Congratulations Serena on walking 7 steps to Mommy! Celebrate, celebrate --- Dance to the music! Well, I guess that will come later.

Dana - What a joy for you to see the smile on her face and share such a proud moment with her! You have both been blessed to find each other. Serena is really coming to know you and she seems to love you as much as we all do. Those intimate moments you two share come straight from her heart. Isn't it wonderful? Her reaching out to you is just a beautiful sentiment. So honest.

I love the high-five photo, too.

The baby feet photo could win a contest.

Love -Maria
