Serena just looks so cute in this outfit, she just looks so squishy in it and she looks great in pink! I just love to hug her!
She loves to play with my cash, she loves the krinkly sound it makes and once she starts you can't stop her. I have noticed that once she is focused on something she is not easily distracted, unlike her mommy. I hope she is this way with her school work when she is older.
This is the hip carrier I got at my baby shower compliments from Frances Jones and Nancy Ward. I brought it today to see how she would like it. It worked out perfect. She seemed very comfy in it and I was too. My shoulders have been hurting me carrying her around outside all the time but now they will be fine. I've heard it's best to have a carrier that faces you and this one does so that will be good for the both of us. Thank you Nancy and Fran, we love it!!
Miss Serena took a break after all that money play she did, it tired her all out. I asked Ainura to take one of the bills and hold it up so she would look at the camera and she gave me a baby yell and plopped down on her belly and just stayed there for a minute. It was so so funny! She just rolled over and this was the picture Ainura took. It's nap time for her after our visit. Today I got to put her in her crib for her nap. I gave her a little lamb to keep and they gave me her binky and I laid her down. It's hard to leave her but I was happy to be able to put her down myself. I just love this time I have with her sharing all these firsts in her birth country. This time here is just so special to me and I will share all of it with her as she grows.I have dates for some very important milestones of the adoption:
June 22 10:00am Court date, the judge will decide if I can adopt Serena
July 9 The official date I legally become Serenas mommy
July 14 I fly to Almaty to do paperwork and medical clinic for Serena
July 18 3:00am I fly to Frankfurt and then Newark, this date is tenative but only by a day or so. When I know what time and day I will be at Newark for sure I will let you all know.
Today one of the caregivers said they all worried about who Moldirs family would be, they wanted it to be a special family. She said when she leaves they will all cry but they are happy to know she will be leaving with me, they know I will be a good mama to her. Is that not the best compliment I could receive?! I told them I would cry too for taking her away from them because I can see how much they love her but I will take very good care of her and so will our family and friends. I told her I would send pictures regularly. I could cry just thinking about it now! I'm going to be a wreck that day, sad for them and happy for me. What an experience this little girl has brought me and it's only been 2 weeks!
Tonight I met with the other adoptive parents for dinner at the Oasis, I had chicken with pineapple. The food was good and so was the company. It's great getting to know these new people and it's nice to meet people who are having the same experience of adopting our first children. They are all so nice and I hope these friendships continue since our children are all adopted at the same time from the same place. Some are from Canada, Virginia, and California.
In Kazakhstan they listen to all the same music we do plus all the popular bands from Europe so they are really exposed to alot more than we are. Eric Clapton, Maroon 5, Christina Aguillera, Elton John, Rolling Stones, Nirvana and P Diddy are all popular. There is Russian rap music too, the beat is the same but I can't understand the words. I told Ainura I wanted to get a CD of current popular Kazakh music and I also want some traditional Kazakh music to bring home for Serena. She said we will find some before I leave.
Miss Serena, I had so much fun with you today. You LOVE it when I tilt your head back and then bring you forward and then gently bumps heads. I never heard you laugh so much! It tickled my heart! I can't wait to play that game again with you tomarrow! Hugs and many many kisses.

Hi Dana - Love that sleepy time photo of Serena. She is precious.
It will certainly be fun keeping in touch with your new friends and sharing photos of the kids.
I'm glad all is well. Same here. Take care - Love, Maria
That hip carrier looks way cool and I'll bet it's great for your back. Hope you and your little papoose have lots of fun with it.
And it's so funny that Serena likes money. Do I see a career in finance in her future? And yes, she looks fab in pink!
I think it's really touching that the caregivers are happy that you're going to be Serena's mommy. They obviously see in you what we all already know.
Looking forward to dancing to some Kaz tunes....
Laura xoxox
No wonder you want to "eat her up."
Serena you are so cute!!!
Dana, how exciting you have DATES!! Yeah!
Luckily you still have alot of time to experience Kaz and make more wonderful memories.
Have another wonderful day tomorrow playing games and getting into Mommy's "bankroll."
Love ,
Aunt Lori xoxo
Pretty in pink - indeed she is.
I'm just loving all the photos. Serena is just cuter and cuter in each one. I showed Nancy the blog and the picture of Serena in the carrier. She is so happy that you are putting it to good use already. She called Frances Jones to tell her that they made the blog.
Finally, some dates to look forward to. We'll be counting down the days until you are officially a momma and you bring your baby girl home. I can't wait.
Love ya lots,
Patty
P.S. I can't wait to see Laura dancing to the Kaz music. Too bad you don't have a bulldog.
Serena looks beautiful in pink. She has such charisma, you can tell from all her great facial expressions. She likes to have fun, like her future Aunt Ro-Ro. I'm digging the music situation. Now, every time I hear one of our "special" dance songs, I will think of you and Serena. P Diddy especially. How about Usher? Do they like Usher???? Just kidding.
I am so excited about your dates. You are one step closer....sooner than you think!!
Love you lots,
Ro
